Reflect:
How did engaging in this way with this passage from James differ from other times you’ve approached reading your Bible? Is the Spirit inviting you to continue reading God’s Word by implementing this exercise or perhaps is the Spirit inviting you to engage with the Word for the first time or for the first time in a long time? If so, how might you be able to respond to that invitation to reading the Bible consistently?
Spiritual Application:
“Faith is the reality of what we hope for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1). What did this passage say about our faith and how our faith affects our relying on God to provide for us? When challenges come up in your life, how does your faith in God stand strong?
Gather:
Share your experience with engaging with Scripture through Lectio Divina. Also, spend time responding to the questions above. Close your time together by praying for one another. If there are more than two of you, perhaps you can decide to pray for the person on your left.
Deeply rooted in Christ with you,
Pastor Matt
