$100, YAC & Jesus

Encounter: Encounter: Read through Hebrews 11:32-34, Ro: 7:19-25 underlining any words or phrases that speak to you.

Have you ever dreamed something so big, seemingly impossible and it happened?  It is not uncommon many of us avoid these type of dreams because we are afraid it will not happen, so we don’t dream or if we do—on a small scale.

Why we don’t allow big dreams involves many things, but a core reason is our past experience of falling short, discovering my insufficiency keeps my soul from dreaming big dreams due to circumstances both within and without my control.

No wonder we love watching sport movies, where the impossible becomes not just possible but reality.  As we sit and watch that movie, does something stir within your soul? To believe again what we have discarded, left unattended?

Tomorrow we will look at a real life example of something NO ONE believed possible, if we use history as our standard (like our lives at times) and how it affected our whole nation for a moment.  In fact, that moment is still resonating in many people’s lives today.  A team no one believed in, did what no one believed possible, to show all of us, nothing is impossible.  My hope is you and I, allow big dreams to once again stir within our souls. I’ll make some connections between $100, YAC & Jesus.

See you for Church Under the Trees and for us guys I hear there’s a Father’s Day gift for you! Bring your lawn chair if you have a favorite:)

Dreaming with you,

Jack

Reflect: Where do you need to sense hope in your life or the grace that God can make something possible even if it looks impossible?

Spiritual Practice: Asking for graces has been a practice of Christians for centuries. Graces are what we are asking God to give us to live like Jesus and love like Jesus. First thing in the morning, imagine sitting in the gaze of God's love for a few minutes and after reading the 730+ scriptures for the day and praying with the Lectio 365 app, ask God for a grace you need. It might be his strength to complete a task, faith in something that looks impossible, the perseverance to have long obedience in the same direction, or to give you the willingness to love and have patience with those around us. Journal what comes up for you.

Gather: Be willing to share something you discovered in this week's spiritual practice or sermon with your small group.
